The Property
The Old Barbers is an end-of-terrace three bedroom period cottage in the picturesque village of Foulsham. The present owners have lovingly refurbished it, maintaining many traditional features such as exposed beams, stripped pine, a woodburning stove, cast iron radiators, and hardwood flooring throughout. There is one car parking space on the driveway, a courtyard area in front of the cottage for al fresco dining in the summer, and two outbuildings with further opportunity to convert (subject to planning). The property is centrally located in the village and is within walking distance of the pub, village shop, and post office and is currently an extremely successful holiday let. Foulsham has a strong community and is within easy access to explore the north Norfolk coastline.
The Old Barbers' accommodation consists of a kitchen and an open plan sitting room/dining room on the ground floor, with three bedrooms and a family bathroom upstairs. The majority of the cottage features exposed wooden floorboards and beams, as well as stripped pine doors and frames, giving it a stylish and homely feel.
The cottage is entered from the side via a porch, which is convenient for leaving coats and wellies. The kitchen is on the left, with the open plan dining and sitting room straight ahead. The kitchen is bright and airy, with a window overlooking the rear, shaker style cabinets top and bottom, hardwood worktops, a double sink, a single oven and plumbing for a dishwasher and fridge freezer.
The sitting room is well proportioned, with windows to the front and plenty of room for comfortable sofas. The dining area, adjoining the sitting room has a woodburning stove and plenty of space for a large dining table and chairs.
Upstairs there are the three bedrooms and a family bathroom.
The principal bedroom is spacious with plenty of room for a king size bed and additional furniture. Bedroom Two is in the eaves (with part restricted height) and currently houses two single beds and Bedroom Three works well with bunk beds. The family bathroom has wooden panelled walls, a large double walk-in shower, hand wash basin and loo.
Outside
The Old Barbers is right in the heart of Foulsham village with its excellent amenities, including a pub and farm shop. The gravel drive to the side has space for parking one car and the courtyard area outside the sitting room is perfect for al fresco dining in the warmer months. There are two outbuildings; the garage, which has been restored and currently houses the hot tub (available by separate negotiation) and a single annexe, which could work well as an office or studio. Three cottages behind the Old Barbers have right of access to their premises.
